Paper Chinese New Year Dragons
Xin Nian Kuai Le!
(Happy New Year!)
6th Grade created Chinese New Year Dragons to celebrate one of Asia's oldest traditions.  We learned that the people of this lunar holiday have many rituals to prepare themselves for the coming year; one of which is "scaring away" evil spirits.  The fierce and colorful dragon is perfect for this task.
The students did an amazing job creating their symmetrical dragon mask!! Bravo 6th Grade!!  Mrs. Flake was REALLY impressed with your "Paper Engineered" talent and creativity!

Wise 6th Grade Students Still Seek HIM!

Mrs Flake and The 6th Grade studied previous artwork of the Three Wisemen.
They discussed the sandy, hot climate of the Wisemen and the quality of the cloth a king could afford at the time of our Lord's birth.
The students drew the Magi with white glue on black paper; then worked on perfecting their chalk pastel blending techniques....looking good gang!

(Sorry about the side-ways photo..Mrs Flake is still working on orientation Blogging!!)
